-Be specific when talking about your study abroad experience. For example, don't wait until the third paragraph to identify the country you're going to study abroad in! 
-Tell your story! Highlight the things that make you unique. Are you a first-generation college student? Single parent? Bio-engineering major?
-Cleary outline your goals for your international experience and show the reviewer that your goals will be made possible by going abroad!
-Ask a friend or family member to review your essay. Better yet, utilize the Writing Center’s services!
